Module #6 peer review

     These two blogs display the work and attention to detail that both of these bloggers used while creating the slideshows “elements and principles of art”. They both showed the elements (lines, value, shapes, form, etc...) and the principles (balance, contrast, movement, pattern, etc..) required of this project in personal and dynamic pictures.
     The second project was an evaluation of their visit to the art gallery and the similarities between their postings of pictures and mine. Although there were few similarities between mine and their projects I was surprised to see how similar their two projects were. They both chose Albright Knox Art Gallery as their venue of choice just as I had but they both chose primarily oils on canvas as their main preference of medium, they both chose “The Dog Walking” as one of the painting that caught their attention.
     I think that both of these bloggers chose appropriate subject matters and properly represented the requirements for creating the projects.

Module #7 Frank Lloyd Wright and the Prarie View

     I chose this film because Wright was an American visionary and an icon who developed and enhanced  an original architectural category with his prairie style architecture. This film seems to be a part of the motif exhibited in the book. It incorporated original architectural techniques by recycling clay, boulders, and other natural materials during construction of some of his earliest homes after excavating basement in his new build homes. Wright tried to incorporate nature and the surrounding environment when designing his homes. Wright wanted to create a synergy between architecture, nature, and science, an organic architecture. This film by including Sullivan and Richardson gives us Buffalonian's pride in the treasures that we have access to. Wright emphasizes wood and nature in his architecture which was a stark difference from the other film that I watched, "The science of design." Module #11 3 Art displays

1. Yayoi Kusama (Japanese, born 1929). Title: Pumpkins. Media: Mirrored and polished bronze. Overhead white spotlight are used to highlight this artwork. It is elevated on a white square platform enclosed with rope. The walls are flat white, surrounding an open space that allows for a 360 degree view and easy access for patrons. It has form, balance and proportion, colored black and gold on high polished bronze. This "Pumpkin" is arranged in it's own space at the Albright Knox Art Gallery (all three pieces are from the gallery). I think that this art is organic in its representation although the media is inorganic. The geometric patterns painted black and gold do not resemble a pumpkin's colors, but is pleasing to the eyes nonetheless. As the artist intended, the "pumpkin" speaks to, life, fertility, and art in my opinion. I would categorize this as modern/pop art. 2. Alberto Giacometti (Swiss, 1902-1966). Module #7 Architecture: The Science of Design

     The advent of skyscrapers incorporated vertical airspace changing the environment that we live in and how we live in it. Steel was stronger and more durable. Improved engineering allowed for architects and builders to do so in a multitude of ways when considering how to build one of these new skyscrapers or taller buildings. Uniformed codes were established along with regulations put into place to address unprecedented issues accompanying this new use of vertical and subterranean space where a suitable foundation would have to built support such massive structures. Never before seen issues such as sway, turbulence, and air quality while socially citizens adopted a new vertical existence as a new way of life.
