Module #5 Art Gallery

1. Htein Lin's, "A Show of Hands" and Pascale Marthine Tyou's, "Chalk Fresco",2015 both made an impression on me because the inspiration that the artists drew on was humanity as an expression that we are one human race.
2. I feel connected to Liza Lou's, "Carbon/Solid 2012-14 with the use of beads starting at a "point zero" to create this work drew my attention to this piece. Zanele Muholi's series "Somnyama Ngonyama "Hail the Dark Lioness",2017 with the use of the contrast between light and the darkness of the subjects skin exemplifies its beauty.
3. Paul Gauguin's "The Little Parisienne" ca, 1881, sculpture depicts life in Paris at the time of discovery in impressionist art. Pa;ul Cezanne's "The Three Skull", 1898 makes me wonder about mankinds mortality and the symbolism associated with life and death.

  1. I like the different artworks you chose to put into your blog. I also chose to put the piece by Zanele Muholi into my blog. This piece also led me to have a connection with it. Not only for its beauty but feeling that it gives me when I look at it. I also agree that the Carbon/Soild artwork draws my connection to it.

  2. I really like Zanele Muholi's series "Somnyama Ngonyama "Hail the Dark Lioness" that you shared. I'm assuming it's from Albright Knox? I haven't been there in a while (I live in LA and did my project at the Getty) so it's lovely to see what I'm missing! I too love the dark and light contrast. It's absolutely stunning.
