I chose the two film "African Art Legacy o oppression" and "Islamic Art: Africa and Central Asia" because I realize how little information had been shared about the continent of Africa in my educational experience and this was an opportunity to learn more. African art is one with nature, incomplete and meant to growyh organically with the people. Masks made of wood, mosques made of mud, pyramids made of earthen materials all intended to last until being reclaimed by nature from whence it came. Dirt, rock minerals, wood were main mediums for art and architecture in Africa. Much of the art was iconographic and pleasing to the eyes. Most of the art did not survive long periods of time because of the medium that was used for it and as a result of the environment in which it was preserved. Perceptual art was based on artist interpretation while conceptual art flowed from the artists imagination. Africa is a large and diverse continent where masks, art and architectur

This is an embedded Microsoft Office document, powered by Office Online . I chose these three examples of African masks because I felt a kinship to them. The main medium for most of the masks that I I viewed was wood, fabric and grass or some other natural fiber. These masks all display elements and principles of art. I enjoy the geometric design employed with the lines, shapes, color, and textures along with the principles of balance in the symmetry, the movement of natural materials like grass, and emphasis on mood such as sad and happy. These masks of seem to be used in rituals which were designed for certain ceremonies. The vibrant energy or the melancholy solemn ties are apparent for the purpose of these masks.

I chose this style for my mask to demonstrate my feelings and traditions. My masks would incorporate wood, grass, colors and natural stones or beads to adorn it. I chose the geometric patterns circles and triangles because they are both equal in measurement, 360 degrees, symbolizing the whole of life. I chose the color scheme red, black, and green to symbolize the blood, dirt, and lushness of plants provided for man. I chose brown to symbolize Earth and Mankind. My maske has open eyes and a closed mouth to indicate how we should carry ourselves throughout life. My mask would be used in celebration of the bounty that man has been given domain over that he may have life and pleasure.

https://balkart.blogspot.com/ https://lookontheright.blogspot.com/ These two blogs display the work and attention to detail that both of these bloggers used while creating the slideshows “elements and principles of art”. They both showed the elements (lines, value, shapes, form, etc...) and the principles (balance, contrast, movement, pattern, etc..) required of this project in personal and dynamic pictures. The second project was an evaluation of their visit to the art gallery and the similarities between their postings of pictures and mine. Although there were few similarities between mine and their projects I was surprised to see how similar their two projects were. They both chose Albright Knox Art Gallery as their venue of choice just as I had but they both chose primarily oils on canvas as their main preference of medium, they both chose “The Dog Walking” as one of the painting that caught their attention. I think that both of these bloggers chose appropriate

Otherhand Using my hand as a model gave me a familiar subject but with a different perspective and appreciation of what I had been looking at all of these years. Drawing my hand on paper was less painful than I thought after employing some of the techniques that I have gleaned from my reading and film work, most importantly patience. I chose pencil as my medium for obvious reasons, it is erasable. Working with my dominant hand is a new enough adventure for me during this course and now I am being challenged to go even further now and use my off hand to draw its counterpart. This endeavor seemed to test boundaries for my hands relationship with one another revealing a pleasant surprise. Though it was an awkward feeling drawing with either hand I became comfortable over time using both hands. The outcomes using either hand were not that dissimilar and represented a noble effort on my part. My hands appear to have some symbiosis with each other that I had been subduing. This was a les

I chose "The Power of Art": Caravaggio so that I might discover what was meant by power as described in the title. I admired Michelangelo's painting of Matthew which began to illustrate a trend towards representational style of art being practiced during the time of the renaissance in the catholic church and in Europe. Michelangelo was born during this renaissance on which he would have an impact. Art had for the previous 3,000 years had been depicted in two dimension and profile without much emotion or movement. The Greek and Roman cultures in the middle ages began to advance the art into three dimensional depictions with movement and realism. This style was promoted by the church and used to promote the church with the most favorable messages and images. Michelangelo however chose to take the beauty of creating art and its figures and illustrate the ugly realities of everyday life in his creations with his depictions of pain, agony, poverty, and the tortured portra
