Module #10 Inspirational Masks

I chose these three examples of African masks because I felt a kinship to them. The main medium for most of the masks that I I viewed was wood, fabric and grass or some other natural fiber. These masks all display elements and principles of art. I enjoy the geometric design employed with the lines, shapes, color, and textures along with the principles of balance in the symmetry, the movement of natural materials like grass, and emphasis on mood such as sad and happy. These masks of seem to be used in rituals which were designed for certain ceremonies. The vibrant energy or the melancholy solemn ties are apparent for the purpose of these masks.
